I-9 - Extension of the COVID requirements

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced that employers will have 30 days to comply with Form I-9 requirements after COVID-19 flexibilities end on July 31, 2023.

If you've used these temporary rules, physical inspections of identity and employment eligibility documents must be finished by August 30, 2023. These flexibilities were first announced in March 2020, allowing identity and employment authorization documents to be examined remotely because of the pandemic. Once physically examined in the future, "COVID-19" should be entered in the Additional Information field in Section 2.
